Make this month’s recipe – Green Jacket Salad

Sometimes I cannot come up with the right words for this year. The grief. The anger. The anxiety. So much has been lost, so many things are breaking our hearts, and so many things are unknown. On top of that, everyone has a different opinion about it all. Honestly, I’ve used the phrase, “What a weird year,” a hundred times, because it’s all I know to say.

Now, more than ever, I want nothing more than God’s words running through my mind. We usually give you a thoughtful story to read as you kick off your IF:Table for the month, but this time it just felt necessary to stop and read Scripture. When we’re at a loss for words, God is not. When we’re spinning, He’s not. When we’re doubting, He’s not.

Praise God.

In a season where everything feels out of control, I cannot lean on anything other than the God who holds yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Will you join me in reading and resting in these words?

John 16:33:  I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.

Isaiah 43:1: “But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: ‘Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.’”

Psalm 46:10: “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”

Genesis 1:31: “And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good.”

Isaiah 41:10: “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Deuteronomy 31:8: “It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”

To remember that He’s gone before me, is the deep breath I need to take the next step. He is not surprised by anything. He is trustworthy, and He is in control. I am so thankful.

In a couple of weeks, our team is throwing in together to bring you IF:Lead 2020 online. While we’ve prepped and pulled in some incredible teachers, we know that all we truly need right now is Jesus. So, if you’re aching to find the right words today and wondering how to make it through this year, I want to invite you to tune in on August 15th with us. We are going to point each other to the only hope we have: our God of yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

You can check out IF:Lead details and digital passes here.
