Observation Continued: Philipians 1

And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

Philippians 1:6

Watch Week Two Day Two

Today we will continue to observe Philippians. 1. As you read the chapter again today, focus on highlighting the key-words and repeated words, comparisons and contrasts, commands, and questions. We have created a downloadable worksheet for you to print and use for your notes.
Remember:

– Key-words are often repeated throughout the text to give the text meaning.
– Comparisons and contrasts help us understand the principles and teachings of the text. Contrasts compare opposite things, such as good and bad. Comparisons highlight similarities by using the word like and as.
– Commands help us understand what God is calling us to do.
– Questions help us dig deeper into the text.

Once you have observed the above elements, make a list of what you learned about a key word and/or person. Remember, lists can lead us to truths within the text; they can help us highlight important ideas. Then, from your observation of Philippians chapter 1, decide on a major theme for the chapter. Remember, a theme is based on the main idea of the text. Share your theme of Philippians 1 with us, either in the online comments section, on the IF:Gathering app, or with your group.
