Interpretation: Philippians 1

And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

Philippians 1:6

Watch Week Two Day Three

Today we will humbly approach the Scriptures and ask the Holy Spirit to help us interpret Philippians 1. Remember, we cannot understand the meaning of Scripture without the Holy Spirit’s revelation. We will base our interpretation on the observations we made during the previous two days of this study. As you interpret Philippians 1, remember the following:

– Consider the context of the passage in light of the book of Philippians and the Bible as a whole.
– Your interpretation should line up with the major themes of the Bible.
– Scripture never contradicts itself.
– Seek out the author’s intention for writing the text.

As we attempt to accurately interpret the Scriptures, let us remember 1 Timothy 4:16: “Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching. Persist in this, for by so doing you will save both yourself and your hearers.”

Then join us in this prayer:
Oh, God, help us keep a close watch on our sinful selves and the receptive words of your truth, as we seek to understand the meaning of Philippians 1. Give us a soft heart and teachable spirit.

It spoke about the importance of living for Christ and impacting people, praying, and also the fact that the will of God has to take precedence over our desires.

The gospel is being spread, regardless of what it looks like, because of the diligence and perseverance of believers and the power of the Holy Spirit.
