Application: Philippians 2

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hebrews 12:1–2

Week Three Day Four

Today we seek to understand the ways in which God has called us to apply Philippians 2 to our lives. We will base our application of Scripture on our observation and interpretation of the passage. The application could look different for each of us, as we are each on our own God-given journey. As we attempt to apply God’s Word to our lives, remember Hebrews 12:1–2:

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Let us strip off the sin that entangles us and run after Jesus today. As you try to apply Philippians 2 to your life, remember that God’s Word is useful for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness. Are you thinking or living in a way that contradicts God’s Word? What is God trying to teach you through Philippians 2? With the application of Scripture, our goal is to become more like Christ as we glorify Him and love His people.
