Father, As we enter into this Advent season, this season of waiting and expectation, we celebrate the gift we have in Jesus. Even as we long for Your arrival, we recognize that our hearts are prone to distraction. We are pulled in a thousand different directions by work or school or children or friends or achieving the perfect holiday. Teach us to center our hearts and minds on You. Help us recognize the signs of Your presence even in the comings and goings of our everyday lives. Meet us in our longing as we await the arrival of Your Son, and in the waiting, help us reflect the hope we have in Jesus. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

These are the truths that the world (and myself) need to hear right now more than ever. God, give us courage and conviction to share the hope that we have to those around us.
In John 14:27, Jesus leaves and gives us peace! Then he states do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid. This was not a suggestion but a command. My hope this season is that I make Jesus my peace, cast my cares upon him, resting and living carefree in front of God. I must trust Him.
