Week One: You + God Inventory

Week One: You + God Inventory Book Cover

The gospel must be big enough to fix the world’s problems as well as our individual ones. We must have a message that starts with God and the good news of our creation, while also staring down the depravity we see around us and being honest about it. We must name the injustice around us while also being honest about the rebellion within us. And, we trust and hope that the salvation God offers to us in his gospel is big enough to save all of it. Here are some questions to ponder:

  1. How would you summarize the world beginning?
  2. In what ways do you bear God’s image in your own life?
  3. How would you define sin and brokenness in the world and in your own life?
  4. How do you feel about God? How do you think God feels about you?

God, you are mighty. Thank you for the beauty of your creation. I see you in it. Would you continue to show me how to be more like you? I need you, Jesus. Every day.

I see the effects of brokenness everyday. And frustration rears its ugly head too often. I have also seen so much restoration and promises fulfilled. God is a good God. And I choose to delight in Him.

Lord, show me how to truly reflect you into this world. Continue to transform my heart to be more like yours. Cut away, even if it’s painful, anything in me that does not glorify you.

I see the effects of brokenness everyday. And frustration rears its ugly head too often. I have also seen so much restoration and promises fulfilled. God is a good God. And I choose to delight in Him.

Yes, I’m grateful for the beauty of creation from the miracle of a newborn to the flowering plants of spring!

God created us in His image out of the purest form of love. I bear God’s image in the way I love myself and others. Sin is separation from God and brokenness is the result and feeling of that separation. God is my foundation, my creator, my father, my guidance, and my hope. I would be lying if I said I never get angry, upset, or doubt His plan – I do – I am human! But at the very center of my core, I know he loves me and has a plan for me that is far greater than anything my mind can imagine.

How would you summarize the world beginning? Loving, completely perfect
In what ways do you bear God’s image in your own life? Feelings, kindness for others, forgiveness,
How would you define sin and brokenness in the world and in your own life? All the wats we fall short from God
How do you feel about God? How do you think God feels about you? Love Him but I know He loves me more.

In what ways do you bear God’s image in your own life? I’m trying to watch in the footsteps of Christ everyday. I try to see situations through the lens of Jesus & how he would have dealt with it. With compassion, patients, truth, depending on His Father to lead the way.

How would you define sin and brokenness in the world and in your own life? Because of sin and us living in a fallen world, we all must face immortality. I’m currently facing that road. Having to suddenly say goodbye to my husband on this earth. I know he is living his eternal life with God but the emptiness I’m left with on this earth is more then my human mind and heart can handle. I have to lean and press into God and His word for everything.

How do you feel about God? How do you think God feels about you? I know that God loves me and I know he is good. He has provided for me continually. Anything that I need he provides, whether it is scriptures or a visual reminder of His presence with me. He is in control of all. He is calling me to trust him daily and I make that choose everyday to trust.

The world in the beginning of creation was perfect… well almost. Our omniscient God was not surprised by the original sin. He created it all knowing the process and the end game (which of course is his creation dwelling eternally with Him). The key difference of ‘the beginning’ and ‘the end’ being that after it is said and done His people will know good and evil and CHOOSE Him willingly. A truly mutually loving relationship in a new perfect garden.

I bear His image in those moments that I truly submit and allow Him to love and work though me.

Sin and brokenness I see as the ‘natural way’ of this world as it is swirling with a concoction of good and evil. Its very existence is dependent on there being both. For if it were all evil here then those ways would be all there is. You cannot be broken if there is no ‘not broken’. And we can rest in the hope of the time to come when it is all good.

How I feel about God feels so difficult to define. I think sometimes my humanness makes my feelings almost volatile. Even the greatest words I can come up with feel so much lesser. If I could allow myself permission to be simple I would put love, gratitude and utter amazement. I think God loves me like the good father He is.

The beginning had to have been perfect.I see God on me when i love others. It is difficult to not feel the brokeness in the world around us.I feel how the world around me wants my heart and mind to hate ,be shamed, and hurt.I love God and know he is a good Father that is always taking care of me no matter the circumstances

– God made nothing, into everything!
– I bear God’s image by the amount of sacrifice I am willing/try to give for the sake of others reflecting God’s sacrifice of his perfect Son who he let die for all of our sins.
– Sin and brokenness fills every street and every home in the world as a reminder that this isn’t our home, this isn’t how the creator meant for life to be, this is work of the enemy. Seeking to kill and destroy.
– I feel God is an all mighty God who I try to put first above all things, above my wants, above my desires, above my husband and above my family. God knows my heart, and I know that He is the only person that will give me peace, and the love I have always been longing for. God see’s me as his child whom he loves. Before Christ I was a sinner and now he sees Jesus in me, with whom he is well pleased and who is fearfully and wonderfully made.
