Sixteen Encounters with Jesus

Emmanuel. God with us. Jesus, the one who saves us from sin. For the Advent season, this is what we celebrate, what we meditate on, why we worship the Lord. In the midst of the busy season of Christmas—parties, gifts, family, friends, traveling, shopping—we want to invite you to have an encounter with Jesus. To experience Jesus as Emmanuel—who is with us, with you. The God of the universe so near that He is with you at all times. Through this 4-week study, we pray that you will experience Jesus, that you will have an encounter with Him, that you will experience the beautiful, life changing meaning of Emmanuel—God with you.

What Women Are Saying...

  • It has been such a blessing to take these moments each morning to ponder and reflect on a few of the powerful Christ-encounters recorded in scripture. To remember just how powerful a gift we have been given in the person of our Savior. How life-changing encounters with him are, not just in the past, but in our own lives. I have been challenged to live my life differently in light of this. To walk fully in the power of the Holy Spirit, to be a light and share the love of Christ in the everyday. Thank you for providing this wonderful 4 weeks of preparation for Christmas, for keeping me focused on what is true and lovely!

  • I loved reading through this most familiar Christmas story but slowing down to take in each specific encounter each character had with Jesus - it wasn't just a rush to the scene of His birth, it was a deep, intentional look into how He affected their lives. I also really enjoyed how the themes of Advent {Peace, Hope, Joy, + Love} were woven into each week's study, it made it so much more purposeful for me. This study has affected me by causing me to crave the slow, purposeful long-suffering that waiting for His coming involves, like Simeon and Anna, I want to wait well - to dig into the tension of "right now, and not yet", to feel the weight and joy of Presence {Emmanuel: God with us}. I am ending this study feeling inspired, encouraged, and full of wonder - thank you IF for creating and providing these wonderful tools and resources that connect us to God and to each other. Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas <3

  • This study has encouraged me to slow down and meditate on the specificity and intentionality of our Savior. He slows down. He looks people in the eye. He has an eye for the vulnerable and marginalized. I have been continually struck by the compassion and mercy of Jesus throughout this Advent season--and my favorite part has been doing this study with my kids (11, 9, 7) as well as you wise, thought-provoking women here (thank you everyone, for how you think and challenge me!). His love is toward us....may we lean into Him this season and see his specific, intentional love for us.
