“How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” Psalm 133:1

A few months ago, we experienced God’s incredible presence, spirit of unity, and power as he brought thousands of us together to participate in the IF:Gathering. Together we were inspired, equipped, and sent out to serve others. Many of you overwhelmed us with your passion to end slavery, shining a light in the darkness and giving hope to the broken. Now we are excited to invite you to continue alongside us in IJM’s newest campaign, a unique opportunity that combines God’s heart for justice with his heart for unity: Freedom Sunday.

On September 25th, thousands of Christians across the country will come together on one day as we seek to end slavery for good. And you can make the crucial first step in mobilizing your church to sign up to hold joins hundreds of other churches in holding a Freedom Sunday event.

The gospel tells us that Christ set us free by his grace, and he works in us to proclaim his love through our actions. He is a God who cares for the oppressed–for women like Elsa, Gowri, and Lyna—and he wants his children to share in his work of justice. As part of the universal body of Christ, we invite you to share your passion for God’s justice and fellowship by igniting his church with His passion and heart for justice.

So how do you bring Freedom Sunday to your church? When you sign up here, an IJM team member will come alongside you to provide guidance, support, and materials in making Freedom Sunday happen at your local church.

From the media, to the message, to the lobby, we’ll equip you, your pastor, and your church with everything needed to gather together believers in the pursuit of justice and freedom, once and for all.

It was a joy to see some of you at IJM’s recent Global Prayer Gathering in Washington, DC, where we were inspired by the words of our founder and CEO, Gary Haugen, who said:

As Frederick Douglas preached on the 4th of July, over 160 years ago:

“Let the people of God array their immense powers against slavery and slave-holding; and the whole system of crime and blood would be scattered to the winds.”

That day did not fully come for Frederick Douglas in his day–not fully– but by the grace of God for the first time in history, it may come in ours. But until it does, we’re not going away, until all are free.

We’re not going away. Until all are free.

It may seem like an impossible dream, but we’ve seen time and time again that justice for the poor is possible when we boldly step into the fight. At IJM, we wholeheartedly believe that if God’s people can join together, we WILL see a change. So join us on September 25th, as believers across the country unite for Freedom Sunday.
