How then do we live? Week Four

They said to the woman, “It is no longer because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this is indeed the Savior of the world.

John 4:42
How then do we live? Week Four Book Cover

Today, let’s reflect on some of the things we’ve read this week and highlight some observations on Jesus’s transformative gentleness with those in the margins.

god loves truth seekers

God is pleased when we genuinely seek truth, when we seek him. God says to love him with our whole mind. Intellectual study, theological learning—Jesus welcomes our inquisitive minds too.

god’s wider presence

Consider that there are theologians and evangelists outside of your local church or city who have a testimony and lessons to teach you. Keep your eyes and ears open for his voice to come from places and people least expected.

good news for bad times

What a world we live in today, huh? New diseases, natural disasters, and global crime can cause the world to wonder if there is any good news. We know there is! Are you willing to share your faith as eagerly as the Samaritan woman did? Her neighbors were moved by her testimony. Who do you need to tell about what Jesus has done in your life?

crossing the divide

Jesus was intentional about crossing divides and bridging gaps to meet the spiritual and physical needs of those considered outcasts. He calls us to follow him in the same work of overcoming gender, ethnicity, and socioeconomic walls to bring his message of joy and hope and healing to people who desperately need him and us. Women came to Jesus because they sensed his compassion and gentleness in his approach. Jesus has given us the power to reach out to other women. With passion and care, we assure them that they are seen, that they are heard, and that they are loved.

I want to live my life as Jesus sees me not as the world does. I want to be known as a Christ follower not as a hypocrite. I no longer want to allow myself to be marginalized or allow generational curses to have an effect on who I am as a woman.

This is a good challenge: "Consider that there are theologians and evangelists outside of your local church or city who have a testimony and lessons to teach you. Keep your eyes and ears open for His voice to come from places and people least expected." I am intentionally seeking to get out of my "white bubble" and seek out and learn from theologians and evangelist of colour. Latasha Morrison and Rev. Dr. Brenda Salter McNeil are two Holy-Spirit-filled women of God that I learn much from.

I want to be conscious of all I do because I want to listen to and obey God only and not take actions at times because I feel I know what’s up or because I feel I can handle it. I want to be intentional with God. I want to remember to always ask for fresh grace, strength, wisdom, holiness, mercy, favour every day. I want God to be enough in me and my family’s lives. Amen.

I want to be more open in speaking with other women around me of how God truly values us, how we are equal to other diverse groups and how God loves us equally and that wee, as women, are valued and used for God’s purpose. It is do humbling to know how important and loved I am by God.

I want to be more intentional
I liked on the video when she shared how Jesus took his time he wasn’t rushing
I am going to incorporate this as well!

I want to be more confident and bold in sharing the gospel to others! I want to make sure I treat everyone with love. especially all those who are marginalized/treated differently! This is my mission as a follower of Christ!

I would want to live differently by sharing with others about the goodness of God through many outlets. Sometimes I feel shy or afraid to spill out information regarding Christianity/Jesus if it is not welcomed ; however , I would want it to naturally let it flow through a conversation, habitually and have more confidence that it will positively change a persons’ life.

Like the Samaritan woman, I want to share my testimony. Help influence and inspire people to open there heart to God because He is there: reaching out to you.
